Next to regular radio shows, recently Niels also started playing with a Pioneer DDJ-SX3 mixer and is making podcasts of DJ mixes.
As kid I was already inspired by Ben Liebrand, who made a Grandmix every year with all the hits mixed together. At a young age I tried to imitate this on a double cassette deck. Later with a regular CD player, a single Pioneer CDJ-500 and a home-garden-kitchen MiniDisk player. Now, years later, there is so much more possible with DJ mixers and computers. Recent years I locked myself in the studio between Thanks Giving and Christmas and spent evenings deep into the night on the Christian version of the yearmix. Put music selection, analysis, beat matching and tones (key) together, layer pop songs with an extra beat layer and even use filters, sampling and AI to get this result:
Next to the original mix (including 2 dutch tracks from ‘Damascus Hiphop’ and ‘Het Adem Project’) also a No Dutch Edit has been created.
